Pakistan Coast Guards recover drugs, betel nut worth Rs 70mn in smuggling crackdown

KARACHI (Dunya News) - Pakistan Coast Guards have carried out various operations against smuggling, during which drugs, betel nut and other items worth about Rs 70 million were recovered.

According to the PCG spokesman, 15,000 liters of Iranian diesel were seized from an oil tanker and the smuggler was arrested. 23,000 kg betel nut, 4267 kg non-local cloth, drugs, ammunition, four oil tankers and other items were caught and 10 people were taken into custody.

The spokesman said that 18,000 liters of Iranian diesel and 4 barrels of engine oil were recovered from Hub Bundewari. Four smugglers were arrested and a motorcycle and oil tanker were seized.

The spokesman further said that 1.45 kg of hashish was also recovered from a passenger travelling in a coach and the smuggler was arrested.
