Not necessary to accept opposition's resignations immediately: Sheikh Rashid
ISLAMABAD (Dunya News) - Federal Interior Minister Sheikh Rashid Ahmed has said that it is not necessary to accept the resignations of the opposition immediately, they can be stopped for six months.
He said this while talking on Dunya News program "On the Front". Sheikh Rashid said that governments do not fall through sit-in and long marches. Opposition groups called for a boycott of the Senate elections.
He asked the opposition leaders to resign from assemblies forthwith and start long march on December 25. The government will welcome the PDM in Islamabad, he added.
Interior Minister said that if opposition wants to resign, they should give it now, why delay. The opposition is worried about the Senate election.
Sheikh Rashid said that if the election rules allow, then the Senate election should be held a month earlier. He said I will also talk to the Election Commission in this regard tomorrow. Senate elections could be held in February instead of March. There is no pressure on the establishment, things will get better, not worse.
Talking about the PML-N Quaid, he said that he was also in favor of sending Nawaz Sharif abroad for treatment and now the Prime Minister also taunt him. Nawaz Sharif managed to get out of the country, Maryam Nawaz was supposed to go second but could not go.
He said that all politicians are the product of GHQ gate number four. They have come to politics not by struggling like Imran Khan but by parachute.
Sheikh Rashid said that politicians do not close the door to dialogue. Talks can only be held with Imran Khan but opposition’s problem is cases. Imran Khan will leave the government, he will not give NRO. Imran Khan is a fighter, he will fight them. These people will be responsible if anyone spreads chaos.
About former president Asif Ali Zardari, he said that he himself is sitting in the political cold storage and asking a child to give speeches, he thinks that in the end he is the one to decide.
Speaking about the Minar-e-Pakistan rally, Sheikh Rashid said that there were only three parties in the opposition alliance PDM. If the children of Maulana Fazlur Rehman s madrassas had not come, the rally would have been even duller. Maryam Nawaz held 8 corner meetings in one day but the people of Lahore did not respond to her.
To a question about Bilawal Bhutto Zardari, he said the leader of PPP was trying to get space in Punjab for contesting next elections.
Criticizing the head of Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam, Maulana Fazlur Rehman, the Minister said that he had been the presidential candidate in the same assembly, now it is declared haraam.
