More areas of Karachi to be put under smart lockdown
KARACHI (Dunya News) – Amid the rising number of coronavirus cases in Karachi, the government has decided to impose smart lockdowns in more areas of the city.
According to details, Karachi and Hyderabad are reporting the most cases during the second wave of coronavirus in Sindh. A few days ago, the government imposed smart lockdowns in several areas of Karachi. It has now decided to expand the scope of these lockdowns to several more areas as well.
It has been decided that 13 areas of Karachi-West will be put under lockdown. According to the notification by the government, there will be smart lockdown in certain areas of Baldia Town, Orangi, Gadap and Kemari from December 5 to December 18.
Other areas include Islam Nagar, Saeedabad, Muhajir Camp, Maymarabad, Yousuf Goth, Kemari and Data Nagar. Apart from this, smart lockdown will also be enforced in Hanifabad, Pak Colony, Metroville, Bawani Chali and Frontier Colony. Pakistan has reported 55 deaths in the last 24 hours by novel coronavirus and the number of positive cases has surged to 410,072. The nationwide tally of fatalities has jumped to 8,260 on Friday.
According to the latest figures by the National Command and Operation Center (NCOC), 3,262 persons tested positive for COVID-19 in the past 24 hours.
