No compromise to be made on quality of welfare projects in S Punjab: CM Buzdar

LAHORE (Dunya News) – Punjab Chief Minister Sardar Usman Buzdar on Wednesday said that for the first time, real development process has been initiated in South Punjab and no compromise would be made on the quality of the welfare projects.

The chief minister presided over a meeting through video link to review the progress of development projects underway in South Punjab.

Usman Buzdar reviewed the progress of work in the projects related to education, health and clean drinking water schemes. He also reviewed the progress on ongoing projects including construction of roads, housing, buildings, beautification of city, local government, agriculture, livestock, transport and other sectors.

The meeting reviewed progress on the development projects of Dera Ghazi Khan, while law and order situation was also reviewed in the meeting.

Speaking on the occasion, the Punjab CM said that third party will monitor all the welfare schemes, adding that quality must be ensured in the development projects.

He said inquiry would be initiated into the complaints of the public.

The CM said that the development process was going on speedily as the government launched several public welfare projects worth billions of rupees and third-party monitoring of every development scheme would be done.

The Chief Minister said that enquiry would be held on public complaints to punish those responsible. The government was the custodian of national resources and those involved in any embezzlement would not be spared, he warned.

The CM directed that timely utilization of funds be ensured for public welfare schemes as an inordinate delay was not acceptable.

He further directed the officers to go into field to ensure transparency, adding that the mantra of lip-service would not work as everyone will have to perform.
