Parole application of Shehbaz Sharif, Hamza Shehbaz sent to CM Punjab
LAHORE (Dunya News) - The Cabinet Committee has forwarded the parole plea of PML-N President Shehbaz Sharif and his son, Hamza Shehbaz, to Chief Minister Sardar Usman Buzdar.
It has been requested that Shehbaz Sharif and Hamza Shehbaz should be released on parole for 5 days. However, as Punjab Home Department is not authorized to grant parole for more than 2 days, sources said that the plea has been forwarded to Punjab Chief Minister, who is authorized to allow a prisoner’s release for more than two days.
Punjab Chief Minister Sardar Usman Buzdar will convene a high-level meeting on this issue in which the parole plea will be reviewed. Home Department officials will brief the Chief Minister on parole related rules and he will make the final decision after a thorough review.
Earlier, PML-N leader Attaullah Tarar had submitted an application to the deputy commissioner to release Shehbaz Sharif and Hamza Shahbaz on parole for two weeks.
The plaintiff had taken the stance that Shehbaz Sharif is Leader of the Opposition in the National Assembly and Hamza Shahbaz is Leader of the Opposition in the Punjab Assembly and people will visit them from across the country to condole the death of Begum Shamim Akhtar – Shehbaz’s mother and Hamza’s grandmother.
The applicant said that there is no bigger loss in this world than passing away of one’s mother, therefore, Shehbaz Sharif and Hamza Shahbaz should be released immediately.
Begum Shamim passed away on Sunday in London where she was staying with her son Nawaz Sharif. She had been ill for quite some time. Her dead body will be brought to Pakistan and funeral prayers will be offered at Sharif Medical City.
