Wedding hall owners refuse to close halls on Nov 20 in Karachi
KARACHI (Dunya News) - Shadi Hall Owners Association has refused to close wedding halls in Karachi on November 20, saying that wedding halls remain closed for six months during Coronavirus and millions of people are employed in this industry.
Addressing a press conference at Karachi Press Club, the leaders of Shadi Hall Owners Association said that they have received money in advance from citizens and now they cannot close wedding halls.
The wedding halls have been open for two months and we have made advance bookings. How we will pay the salaries to the employees, said wedding hall owners.
We have already closed the marriage halls for six months following the government s SOPs. "We have not been given any relief by the government," association added.
Wedding halls owners association said that no relief given by the government in terms of rent, utility bills and salaries for the marriage hall industry.
According to the Hall Owners Association, the marriage halls remain closed for six months but National Command and Control did nothing for millions of unemployed workers.
The government received billions of rupees in aid under the guise of Coronavirus, but not a single waiter received 12,000 rupees.
