Smart lockdown imposed in parts of Karachi

Four schools in different districts of Karachi have been closed for violating SOPs.

KARACHI (Dunya News) – Following the reports of rise in coronavirus cases in the metropolis, the authorities have imposed “smart lockdowns” and closed dozens of restaurants in the country s financial capital of Karachi.

While issuing the order, the Deputy Commissioner said that lockdown will be held in different areas of Korangi till October 15 adding that lockdown will also be implemented in Korangi No 2, Al-Falah Society, Shadman Tower Malir, Darakhshan Society Malir.

He said that nine people have been tested positive for coronavirus in the lockdown areas, adding that grocery stores will remain open for mobility in the areas.

The deputy commissioner said that lockdown has been imposed in 5 places of Eastern District till October 17, while lockdown in Korangi and Eastern District will be implemented from today (Friday).

On the other hand, the first private bank in Karachi was sealed after the COVID-19 cases. In the southern district, the private bank was sealed on the orders of the deputy commissioner. Five employees of the private bank were tested positive for the virus.

Meanwhile, four schools in different districts of Karachi have been closed for violating SOPs. The four closed educational institutions are located in the southern district.

Meanwhile, warnings have been issued to 12 educational institutions for violating SOPs and a shop in western district has been fined Rs50,000. The authorities have also sealed seven marriage halls and 61 restaurants in the city during 24 hours.
