Coronavirus: 'Micro-smart lockdowns' imposed in various parts of Karachi

'Micro-smart lockdowns' was imposed in different areas of Karachi due to spike in coronavirus cases.

KARACHI (Dunya News) - Due to recent spike in coronavirus cases in Karachi, the Sindh government has imposed  micro-smart lockdowns  in various localities of District Central and District West in Karachi on Thursday, Dunya News reported.

According to details, 48 localities in District Central, four in North Karachi, 21 in North Nazimabad, nine in Liaquatabad, 12 in Gulberg, District West and two residential apartments in Manghopir were among the affected areas.

According to the notification, the entrance of unnecessary persons was restricted, while residents are to wear face masks.

Furthermore, public transport and pillion riding have been banned along with public gatherings, while trade and commercial activities have been suspended.

Only shops selling essential items and pharmacies may remain open, while one person from a household may leave the house at a time for necessary activities.

Meanwhile, Pakistan has reported 5 deaths in last 24 hours by novel coronavirus as the number of positive cases has surged to 312,806. The nationwide tally of fatalities has jumped to 6,484, Dunya News reported on Thursday.

According to the latest figures by the National Command and Operation Center (NCOC) 543 persons have been tested positive for COVID-19 in 24 hours.

Sindh remains the worst-hit province by the pandemic in terms of cases followed by Punjab, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Islamabad.

Till now 137,106 coronavirus cases have been confirmed in Sindh, 99,479 in Punjab, 37,811 in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, 16,611 in Islamabad, 15,281 in Balochistan, 2,731 in Azad Kashmir and 3,787 in Gilgit-Baltistan.
