Sh Rashid told that over Rs10 billion has been spent on the KCR project
ISLAMABAD (Dunya News) – Federal Minister for Pakistan Railways, Sheikh Rashid on Sunday has said that federation and Sindh government have same stance on the matter of Karachi Circular Railway (KCR).
While talking to media, the minister told that over Rs10 billion has been spent on the project. Encroachments are being identified to resolve the issue as early as possible, he added.
Sheikh Rashid said that provincial government will be requested to provide alternative place for those getting affected by the anti-encroachment operation.
CJP berates Sindh government for sluggish progress on KCR project
The Supreme Court (SC) had lambasted Sindh government for inadequate steps taken to complete the Karachi Circular Railway project.
During the proceedings on a case pertaining to restoration of KCR, the apex court has directed the Sindh government to build underpasses and flyovers before the decided time and also ordered the local administration to complete fencing and other construction work as early as possible.

SC orders evacuation of Railways land
Earlier, SC had also instructed to demolish all the buildings illegally constructed on the railways land.
Chief Justice of Pakistan (CJP) Gulzar Ahmed had remarked that Sindh government took responsibility to recover circular railways land in Karachi, however, nothing was done in this regard.
He also questioned Clifton Cantonment Board over encroachments in Delhi and Punjab colonies over which, the Cantt official told that this land belongs to the government.
The court further reprimanded Sindh Building Control Authority (SBCA) officials for destroying the beauty of Karachi for personal interests.
CJP had directed city commissioner to evacuate the occupied land and ordered to demolish all the buildings, housing societies and petrol pumps illegally constructed on railways land.
Following the directives, the local authorities had launched an operation against illegal encroachments in the metropolis.
During the action, women pelted stones at the officers for demolishing the buildings near Gillani Railway Station. The security personnel also took enraged locals into custody for resisting the operation.
