Nawaz bars PML-N leaders from meeting military, relevant agencies' members
LAHORE (Dunya News) – Pakistan Muslim League Nawaz (PML-N) leader Mian Muhammad Nawaz Sharif has barred all PML-N members from meeting with representatives of the military and relevant agencies at individual, party of personal level.
According to details, Nawaz sharif said in his tweet on social networking site that if it would be necessary for national defense and constitutional requirements, every such meeting will be declared with the approval of the party leadership and will not be kept as a secret.
He said that recent events prove once again how some meetings remain hidden behind seven curtains and how some are advertised and given the meaning of own choice.
Nawaz Sharif further said that this game should stop now, while instructing to his party members he said that today, I am instructing my party to abide by the requirements of the Constitution of Pakistan and to remind the Armed Forces of their oath’s compliance, no member of PML-N will meet with representatives of the military and relevant agencies at individual, party or personal level.

Earlier Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) Director General (DG) Major General Babar Iftikhar on Wednesday said that former Sindh governor and Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) senior leader Muhammad Zubair met Chief of Army Staff (COAS) General Qamar Javed Bajwa twice during the last few weeks.
Speaking exclusively at a private TV channel, he said that the meetings were held on former governor’s request while matters pertaining to former prime minister and PML-N supremo Nawaz Sharif and party vice president Maryam Nawaz were discussed in the meeting.
The DG ISPR said that the first meeting was held in the last week of August,while the second meeting was held on September 7.
Maj Gen Babar Iftikhar went on to say that Inter-Services Intelligence (ISI) chief Lieutenant General Faiz Hameed was also present in the meetings.
The DG ISPR further said that the COAS made it clear during the meetings that the political issues would be resolved in the parliament, while the former premier’s legal issues would be resolved in the courts.
“Gen Qamar Javed Bajwa said that the Pakistan Army should be kept away from these matters,” he added.
None of Nawaz’s representative met COAS: Maryam Nawaz
Earlier Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) vice president Maryam Nawaz had denied reports of a meeting between Chief of Army Staff (COAS) General Qamar Javed Bajwa and any representative of former prime minister Nawaz Sharif.
Reacting to a meeting between parliamentary leaders and military leadership, Maryam said that meeting was called on Gilgit-Baltistan, which is a political issue and such issues should be discussed in the parliament not GHQ.
She further said that political leadership should not be invited for such meetings nor politicians should attend them. If anyone has to discuss such issues, he should approach parliament.
She said that an elected prime minister was sacked on plea of an absconder however, tactics of oppression cannot last forever. Talking about APC, she said that decisions of the conference will be honored.
