Victims of Keenjhar lake tragedy laid to rest

KARACHI (Dunya News) - Ten bodies of the Keenjhar Lake tragedy victims of the same family were laid to rest.

The affected family is exhausted with grief. They also demanded that those responsible for the incident be brought to justice.

The Karachi family had gone to Keenjhar Lake for a picnic but returned with the bodies after the tragic incident.

Ten out of twelve members of the family perished in the waves of Lake Keenjhar. Funeral prayers were offered at Chansir Goth in Mahmoodabad in the presence of political and religious leaders and relatives.

Earlier, political figures, including locals, offered condolences to the affected family. The heirs have demanded action against those responsible for the incident.

Meanwhile, a constitutional petition has been filed in the Sindh High Court with Deputy Commissioner Thatta and other officials as parties. The petition said that a similar incident had taken place in Keenjhar Lake in 2017 but despite court orders, no precautionary measures were taken in the lake and action should be taken against those responsible.
