SC expresses anger over delayed action against anti-judiciary video

ISLAMABAD (Dunya News) – The Supreme Court of Pakistan Friday expressed anger over delayed action against insulting anti-judiciary video while conducting suo motu hearing, Dunya News reported.
Attorney General Khalid Jawed Khan told the top court that police forwarded the case to the Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) after a complaint was lodged by Justice Qazi Faez Isa’s wife and proceedings are now ongoing.
Chief Justice Gulzar Ahmed remarked that the FIA is incompetent. Justice Ijazul Ahsan said, “The national institution was threatened in the video and judge was ridiculed. Why did the state machinery take action with delay?”
Maulana Iftikhar-ud-Din Mirza’s counsel told the supreme court that her client had come to the court but was arrested by police. Justice Gulzar Ahmed inquired that why Iftikhar-ud-Din Mirza was arrested and ordered the authorities to produce him during the next hearing.
The SC served notices to FIA DG and Maulana Iftikhar-ud-Din Mirza and adjourned the hearing till July 2. The apex court also directed Attorney General Khalid Jawed Khan to assist it over the matter in the next hearing.
Let it be known that CJP Justice Gulzar Ahmad Thursday (yesterday) took suo motu notice of death threats to Justice Qazi Faez Isa by Iftikhar-ud-Din Mirza through a video. Justice Qazi Faez Isa’s wife had filed a petition on Wednesday regarding the viral video.
