COVID-19: District health officer urges govt to seal 16 UCs in Karachi
KARACHI (Dunya News) – District Health Officer on Tuesday has written a letter to the concerned authorities to seal parts of 16 union councils in Karachi’s West zone over coronavirus outbreak.
According to the letter, 34 coronavirus cases have been reported in Gadap Town, Gukshan-e-Maymar, Khuda Ki Basti whereas UC 6 Surjani Sector has 37 patients. 20 virus carriers are under treatment in Kemari UC 1 and Saeedabad, 32 in Sultanabad’s UC, 37 in Baldia Town and Islamnagar, 134 in Saeedabad UC 5, 27 in UC 6 Mujahid Colony and 149 patients have been reported in Site Metroville Town.
On the other hand, smart lockdown has been imposed in parts of Swat, Abbottabad, Ghotki and Lahore to prevent further spread of the virus.
The decision came after Pakistan confirmed 111 deaths – highest till date – by novel coronavirus in one day as the number of positive cases surged to 148,921. The nationwide tally of fatalities jumped to 2,839.
According to the latest figures by the National Command and Operation Center (NCOC), 4,443 persons have been tested positive for COVID-19 in 24 hours.
