About 115 Pakistanis are currently trapped in Indonesia because of travel restrictions
JAKARTA (Dunya News) - Pakistanis stuck in Indonesia have appealed to the government to send a special flight for their return home.
According to sources, about 115 Pakistanis are currently trapped in Indonesia because of travel restrictions, specifically, cancellation of international flight operation. The passengers belong to Karachi, districts of interior Sindh and various cities of Punjab.
The passengers were supposed to return to the country via flight on March 21, which was canceled because of suspension of flight operations. Some are now stuck in hotels while those short on coin have moved to guest houses. Even in the guest houses, only one person is allowed to stay in a room, which has increased the cost incurred.
The marooned Pakistanis include businessmen, students and tourists. Indonesia s government has closed down two of Jakarta’s three airports and there are rumors of the third airport being shut down soon as well.
The Pakistanis have appealed to the government to come to their rescue before the last airport closes. They have asked the government to operate a special flight to bring them back as they have run out of money for accomodation and food.
