Pakistan confirms seventh Coronavirus case

A 50-year-old patient was tested positive for the virus.
KARACHI (Dunya News) – Another case of the coronavirus was reported in Pakistan on Sunday, with another patient diagnosed with the virus in Karachi.
Sindh Chief Minister Syed Murad Ali Shah was informed of another Coronavirus case during a meeting of the Coronavirus Task Force that a 50-year-old patient was tested positive for the virus. The patient and his family members have been quarantined.
During the meeting, Spokesperson of the Sindh Chief Minister said that four test were conducted today out of which one was tested positive with the virus.
The meeting was informed that the person who came in positive test was from Karachi. The meeting was further informed that the program for those who were returning from Taftan has been canceled and they would leave from Taftan tomorrow.
Murad Ali Shah also directed officials to trace and test all those who have been in contact with the patient.
On Thursday, Pakistan had detected its sixth coronavirus case in Karachi, the Sindh health department has said. The department said the 69-year-old patient had a travel history to Iran and had returned to Pakistan on February 25.
The patient had been admitted to the isolation ward of a government hospital and his family quarantined at home, he said, adding that a health official would monitor the health of the family periodically.
Pakistan confirmed its first case of the novel coronavirus on Feb. 26 in the port city of Karachi, where a 22-year-old male who had recently visited Iran was found to be infected.
The novel virus reportedly first originated in the Chinese city of Wuhan in December last year and has claimed over 3,200 lives globally.
The World Health Organisation last week raised the global virus risk to maximum level after the outbreak spread to sub-Saharan Africa and stock markets around the world plummeted.
The pandemic has triggered panic around the world after it killed more than 2,700 people around the world (mostly in China) and affected more than 80,000 around the world. Iran has emerged as a major hotspot, with 139 reported cases and 19 deaths.
The virus, which causes people to suffer from pneumonia, causes people to suffer from cough, fever and breathing difficulties. The virus originated from Wuhan s wet markets and have spread to Europe and South Asia.
