Ships Agents Association rejects report of dangerous emissions from soybeans

KARACHI (Dunya News) – The Ships Agents Association has strongly denied reports of dangerous gas emissions from soybeans and said that soybean is not related to chemicals as it is an agricultural product.
According to a statement issued by the association, soybean is being handled at the port without any damage for years and no one from more than 600 workers who were working on the ship got hurt.
The statement claims that first victim of the poisonous gas was admitted in the hospital even before the ship got anchored and Plant Protection Department conducted a detailed inspection of the ship on February 18 and found no chemicals.
The association demanded that soybean ship should not be shipped to Port Qasim and said that agents will be present on the spot during handling of soybeans.
