Off-loading of soybean stopped at Karachi Port

A special committee has been formed to determine the causes of poisonous gas leak in Kimari.

KARACHI (Dunya News) - Federal Minister for Maritime Affairs Ali Zaidi chaired a high level meeting on Tuesday to discuss the situation arising after 14 persons died in Kimari area of Karachi due to mysterious toxic gas leak, Dunya News reported.

The meeting was attended by Sindh Minister for Information and Local Government Syed Nasir Hussain Shah, Commissioner Karachi and other high ranking officials.

It was decided in the meeting to stop off-loading of soybean from the ship at the Karachi Port. It was also decided that rest of the soybean will now be off-loaded at the Port Qasim.

It was also decided in the meeting to form a special committee under the chairmanship of Commissioner Karachi to determine the causes of poisonous gas leak in Kimari.

The meeting also considered suggestions for dealing with the situation in the residential areas adjacent to Karachi Port.
