NAB recovered Rs178b last year

NAB authorized 221 investigations in 2019
ISLAMABAD (Dunya News) – National Accountability Bureau (NAB) recovered Rs178 billion from corrupt elements last year and 600 references have been filed in different accountability courts.
Chairman National Accountability Bureau Justice (Retd) Javed Iqbal chaired a meeting held at NAB Headquarters to review the performance of NAB.
During the meeting, it was informed that NAB received 51591 complaints out which 46123 complaints were disposed on merit as per law. In 2019, NAB authorized 574 inquiries and 658 inquiries were completed.
The meeting was informed that NAB authorized 221 investigations in 2019 and completed 217 investigations as per law and Rs178 billion were recovered from the corrupt elements.
Apart from this, NAB has filed 600 corruption references in various Accountability Courts and currently 1275 corruption references are sub judice in the courts.
While addressing the meeting, Chairman Javed Iqbal said that NAB’s top priority is to bring corruption cases to a logical end and recover nation’s looted money.
