Youhanabad lynching case: Court pronounces verdict after five years

40 people registered in Youhanabad lynching case were acquitted by the court.
LAHORE (Dunya News) – A special Anti-Terrorism Court (ATC) has ruled on the Youhanabad case after five years, and acquitted 42 accused in the case of burning two men alive.
ATC Judge Arshad Hussain Bhatta pronounced the verdict after recording the testimonies of victim’s heirs. Among the heirs of Hafiz Naeem and Babar Noman were Muhammad Iqbal, Muhammad Nawaz and Khadija who recorded their statements. The plaintiffs filed a reconciliation petition under Section 345 after a long gap.
All the accused were present before the court today. Special security arrangements were made at the court during their appearance. They appealed to be released as an agreement was signed with the other party. Two of the accused have already passed away in jail due to illness. Youhanabad lynching case was registered in Nishtar Colony police station.
The group consisting of 42 people was charged with murdering two men after suicide blasts targeted two churches in the heavily Christian area of Youhanabad, Lahore, in March 2015.
