Pakistan offers assistance to quake-hit Turkey

FM offered to send field hospitals and rescue teams to take part in the ongoing rescue operations

ISLAMABAD (Dunya News) - Minister for Foreign Affairs Shah Mahmood Qureshi phoned his Turkish counterpart Mevlut Cavusoglu and offered Pakistan s assistance in the rescue operation in quake-hit areas of Turkey.

Shah Mahmood Qureshi conveyed the deepest sympathies and heartfelt condolences on behalf of the President Arif Alvi, Prime Minister Imran Khan and people of Pakistan for lives lost in the devastating earthquake.

He added that Pakistan’s thoughts and prayers are with the victims of this natural calamity and as always, the people of Pakistan equally share the pain of their Turkish brothers and sisters and stand by them in this hour of grief.

He offered to send field hospitals and rescue teams to take part in the ongoing rescue and relief activities.

Earlier Interior Minister of Turkey Suleyman Soylu said 39 people have been rescued alive from collapsed buildings in Elazig province, with a further 22 people estimated to be trapped under the rubble. He said the death toll had risen to 22.
