Pakistan & Indonesia have PTA agreement which is in favour of Indonesia
KARACHI (Dunya News) – All Pakistan Fruits and Vegetable Association urged the government to peruse Indonesian government for immediate approval of quota for importing Pakistani kinows to accelerate exports of the commodity.
The Association wrote a letter to Advisor to commerce, industry and Trade Razak Dawood to immediately intervene in the matter.
The letter said that Indonesia follows a quota system for import of fruits from other countries and Pakistan is no exception to that trade policy.
Generally by 1st week of Jan. quota for import of Pakistani Kinnow to Indonesia is issued, however it’s now over two weeks plus we did not hear any information in this context which is causing serious concern among the exporters of Kinnow which is but natural.
Pakistan & Indonesia have PTA agreement which is in favour of Indonesia as Pakistan imports two billion US dollar of Palm oil from Indonesia while export of Pakistani Kinnow is just in a few million US dollars and thus the Govt. of Indonesia can, at least, extends favour by issuance of quota on the given date which is out of sight at the moment! Besides that the Indonesian Govt. shall also be requested to abolish quota system for Pakistan as Pakistan can also impose quota for Indonesia Palm Oil
In view of the above it is requested that the Govt. of Indonesia may please be approached immediately for issuance of quota to Pakistan without any further delay.
