NYDF in offing to empower youth: Usman Dar.

ISLAMABAD (APP) – Special Assistant to the Prime Minister on Youth Affairs Muhammad Usman Dar on Thursday said the National Youth Development Foundation (NYDF) was being created to equip the young people with modern technological skills.

The prime objective of NYDF was to empower youth by harnessing modern technologies, Usman Dar said while addressing the preparatory meeting of Generation Unlimited Strategic Advisory Council (GenU-SAC) here.

The National Youth Councils’ members, International youth experts and private sector were being engaged to get their input for establishing the NYDF as per the vision of Prime Minister Imran Khan, he said.

The special assistant said unlike past, all the youth empowerment projects were not politically motivated and being launched after well-thought process behind it, adding: “Job creation and promotion of entrepreneurship culture is top priority of government.”

Usman Dar said ‘Hunarmand Pakistan’ programme, a component of Kamyab Jawan programme, had been launched to provide skills to the country youth at par with global standards.

Youth empowerment projects would be completed at the earliest to ensure maximum employability among youth, he added.

The special assistant said the government had launched two major initiatives under Kamyab Jawan Programme and more four projects were in pipeline which would be introduced shortly.

Appreciating the support of its development partners for the youth empowerment, he said Strategic Advisory Council (SAC) would provide strategic guidance for strengthening the provincial TVET systems and help promote public private partnership to identify and scale solutions, unlock investments and empower young people that would eventually emerge as go-getters of the society.

Usman Dar urged the council members to develop a roadmap and submit at its next meeting by after mapping the areas of collaboration which would help identify the gaps and provide solutions.

National Vocational and Technical Training Commission (NAVTTC) Chairman Syed Javed Hasain said partnership with GenU would be helpful in mobilizing the youth by equipping them with necessary skills so that they could play productive role in the society.

Dr. Nasir Khan, the Executive Director of NAVTTC said the SAC would offer a platform for knowledge and technology exchange and help align national policies, programmes with international TVET models.

Generation Unlimited (GenU) is a global partnership launched at the United Nations that empowers young people to become productive and engage citizens by connecting secondary-age education and training to employment and entrepreneurship.

Strategic Advisory Council (SAC) will provide strategic guidance for the establishment of a Generation Unlimited (GenU) partnership, approaches, and investment agenda in Pakistan.
