IHC bench withdraws contempt notice against bar secretary
ISLAMABAD (Dunya News) – The deadlock between Islamabad High Court (IHC) bench and bar association has ended after withdrawal of contempt notice against bar Secretary Muhammad Umair Baloch.
According to details, the notice was retracted on the appearance of the bar members before the court in connection with Pakistan Institute of Cardiology (PIC) clash.
IHC Chief Justice Athar Manallah said that we don’t believe in sentencing anyone on contempt of court. Won’t let any third force to take advantage from this situation, he added.
The CJ remarked the bench is strong if it has firm bar and hoped that the bar members will protect the freedom of judiciary.
Meanwhile, bar members including its President Raja Inam and Ameen Minhas said that they appeared in the court to show respect for the court.
Earlier, IHC bar association had boycotted oath-taking ceremony of three new additional judges that included Lubna Pervaiz from Sindh, Ghulam Azam Qambar from Balochistan and Fiaz Ahmed Jandran from Federal Capital.
The judges were appointed after recommendation by Judicial Commission of Pakistan (JCP) and approval from the Parliamentary Committee.
