LAHORE (Dunya News) – Punjab Governor Chaudhry Muhammad Sarwar on Sunday inaugurated a water filtration plant and private charity hospital in the area of Izmir Town in Lahore.

Later, talking to newsmen, the governor said that the provision of the clean drinking water was a basic necessity of the people.

He said that 50 per cent diseases and deaths were being caused by the contaminated water.

He said that billions of rupees were wasted by the past governments in the name of potable water in last 30 years.

Sarwar said that the PTI government has decided to establish "Aab-e-Pak Authority” to ensure the supply of clean drinking water to the masses.

He said that the government has provided the best treatment facilities to PML-N leader Nawaz Sharif and that the federal government has allowed Sharif to go abroad for medical treatment on humanitarian grounds.

The governor said that the Lahore High Court has obtained an undertaking from Sharif regarding his return to Pakistan.

He said that the people have elected the PTI for five years and the government will complete its tenure.
