PM Imran raised voice on various matters including Kashmir issue for which he was lauded globally.

LAHORE (Dunya News) – Prime Minister Imran Khan has successfully completed his the United States of America (US) visit for the 74th United Nations General Assembly (UNGA) session where he raised various matters including Kashmir issue for which he was lauded globally for his transparent and powerful stance.

It all started on September 21 when Ambassador Dr. Asad Majeed Khan received PM Imran at JFK airport, US.

PM Khan met the Founder of Kashmir Study Group (KSG), Farooq Kathwari, in New York.

The premier advised Mr Kathwari to further outline the issue of illegal occupation of Jammu and Kashmir and the ongoing blatant human rights’ violations by India for exposing the real face of Modi-led Hindu nationalist government in front of the world.

The Prime Minister in his meeting with Kumi Naidoo said even human rights organizations are not being given access to people in Occupied Kashmir.He appreciated the role of Amnesty International in highlighting the situation in Occupied Kashmir.

The Prime Minister appreciated the lead role that Amnesty was playing in presenting the real state of human rights in the occupied territory and amplifying the voices of the Kashmiri population in a state of seven-week long lockdown. These efforts had helped raise international community’s awareness about the continuing suffering of the Kashmiri people.

Prime Minister Imran Khan met US Special Representative for Afghanistan Reconciliation Zalmy Khalilzad in New York. PM Khan discussed Afghan peace process and human rights violations in occupied Kashmir with the delegations.

PM in meetings with the delegations discussed matters of mutual interests.

PM Imran apprised Lindsey Graham about the deteriorating situation in the Indian Occupied Jammu and Kashmir. He said that India’s lockdown in Kashmir has created a humanitarian crisis and posed a threat for regional stability.

He said the United States could play a positive role in resolving the Kashmir dispute, which was the main obstacle to lasting peace in South Asia.

Talking to the businessmen, PM Khan highlighted investment-friendly environment in Pakistan as a result of steps being taken by the government for ease of doing business.

He also informed the delegation about promotion of industrial sector and socio-economic development.

The delegation appreciated the vision of the PM in connection with socio-economic development in Pakistan and expressed their interest to invest in education, manufacturing and steel sectors.

Prime Minister Imran Khan called on Iranian President Hassan Rouhani on the sidelines of 74th session of the United Nations General Assembly in New York, Dunya News reported.

Iran President Hassan Rouhani welcomed Pakistan delegation himself and the leaders deliberated on regional situation. PM Imran Khan apprised the Iranian president on human rights violations in the occupied Kashmir.

Prime Minister Imran Khan called on Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan on the sidelines of 74th session of the United Nations General Assembly in New York.

Imran Khan and Tayyip Erdogan discussed a wide range of bilateral, regional and multilateral issues of mutual interest. They also exchanged views on other regional developments including Afghan peace and reconciliation process.

Prime Minister Imran Khan apprised Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan on the latest situation in Indian Occupied Jammu and Kashmir (IOJ&K) and underlined the need for the international community to play its role in helping to address the dire human rights and humanitarian situation and its attendant consequences.

Prime Minister Imran Khan met Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi, who called on him in New York on the sidelines of UN General Assembly Session.

During the meeting, the prime minister apprised the Chinese FM of ongoing situation in the Indian-occupied Jammu and Kashmir (IoJ&K).

Prime Minister Imran Khan said that the United States presented mujahideen as heroes during Soviet–Afghan war but later we were asked to wage a war against those heroes after September 11 attacks.

US President Donald Trump has once again offered to mediate on the issue of Kashmir with the consent of both Pakistan and India leaders.

Addressing a news conference along with Prime Minister Imran Khan in New York on the sidelines of 74th session of the United Nations General Assembly on Monday, Trump said he enjoys good relations with the leadership of both India and Pakistan. He expressed hope that leadership of India and Pakistan can work together to sort this issue out.

PM Imran said that Pakistan, Turkey and Malaysia will jointly launch an English language channel dedicated to confronting the challenges posed by Islamophobia and setting the record straight on our great religion - Islam.

The decision was made during his meeting with Turkish President Tayyip Erdogan and Malaysian Prime Minister Mahathir Mohamad in New York.

This channel will correct misperceptions which bring people together against Muslims. Issue of blasphemy would be properly contextualized; series and films would be produced on Muslim history to educate and inform our own people and the world; Muslims would be given a dedicated media presence through this channel.

Ehsas Program: Pakistan to receive $200mn from Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation

A Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) was signed by Pakistan and Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation under which the foundation will provide Pakistan an amount of 200 million dollars for implementation of ‘Ehsas Program’ next year.

The meeting was held in New York and attended by Prime Minister Imran Khan, Chairperson ‘Ehsas Program’ Dr Sania Nishtar and Bill Gates. According to the agreement, the amount will be spent on 134 poverty alleviation projects.

Prime Minister Imran Khan while addressing the UN General Assembly on Friday said that anything could happen if a conventional war starts between the Indian and Pakistan but supposing a country seven times smaller than its neighbor is faced with the choice: either you surrender, or you fight for your freedom till death?
