PPP leadership lambastes govt over Khursheed Shah's arrest

CM Sindh said that the government has taken a wrong step by arresting Shah.

LAHORE (Dunya News) – The leadership of Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) condemned and lambasted the government on the arrest of PPP senior leader Syed Khursheed Shah in case pertaining to assets beyond income source.

Sindh Chief Minister Syed Murad Ali Shah while condemning the arrest of the PPP leader said that it was nothing, if there any investigation was being carried out against Khursheed Shah. “He was neither evading any investigation nor running out of the country”, he asserted while adding that the government has taken a wrong step by arresting him.

Advisor to Sindh Chief Minister on Law, Environment and Coastal Development Barrister Murtaza Wahab while condemning Khursheed Shah’s arrest expressed that the PPP was being targeted for political revenge, adding that his party is not afraid of such accountability.

PPP Senator Sherry Rehman also lashed out at the arrest expressing, “There should be any law… whose law is it?” She asserted that the Speaker was not informed about Khursheed Shah’s arrest. "Imran Khan has been exposed and people want to get rid of the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) government," she added.

On the other hand, Sindh’s Local Bodies Minister Nasir Hussain Shah condemned Shah’s arrest and said that whoever speaks truth, gets arrested. He added that false cases have also been fabricated against former president and PPP co-chairman Asif Ali Zardari and his sister Faryal Talpur.

Earlier, National Accountability Bureau (NAB) arrested Pakistan Peoples’ Party (PPP) senior leader Syed Khursheed Shah in case pertaining to assets beyond income source.

The PPP stalwart will be produced before the Accountability Court Sukkur on Thursday for a remand
