Work on Kartarpur Corridor likely to be completed this month

Foreign Office has expedited the efforts to open the Kartarpur corridor.
ISLAMABAD (Dunya News) – Work on Kartarpur corridor has entered its final phase and is likely to be completed till August 31. Pakistan showing a big heart has decided not to let Kartarpur initiative come between the rising tensions among nuclear armed neighbors arising after Indian government scrapped special status of Occupied Kashmir.
Sources said Foreign Office has expedited the efforts to open Kartarpur corridor which is expected to be inaugurated on November 11 in a graceful ceremony on the occasion of 550th birthday of Baba Guru Nanak.
Sources said PM Imran Khan will inaugurate the corridor. More than 500 Sikh Yatrees are expected to attend the ceremony.
It is pertinent to mention here that PM Imran inaugurated the project on November 28 and Pakistan shared the document relating to Kartarpur corridor with India in January 2019. Both countries are coordinating with each other in this regard.
The corridor would spread a positive message for the rights of minorities. The founder of Sikhism Baba Guru Nanak spent his last 18 years in Kartarpur area of Punjab.
Earlier, Governor Punjab Chaudhry Muhammad Sarwar said the opening of Kartarpur Corridor for Sikh yatrees is a historic step of Prime Minister Imran Khan.
He was addressing a press conference along with Special Assistant to Prime Minister on Information and Broadcasting Dr Firdous Ashiq Awan, at Governor House in Lahore this afternoon.
The Governor said all minorities enjoy equal rights in Pakistan as per the constitution.
He said Sikh conventions will be held in Lahore and Nankana Sahib on the occasion of 550th birth anniversary of Baba Guru Nanak. He said first such convention will be held at Governor House in Lahore in which Sikhs form all over the world will participate.
Chaudhry Muhammad Sarwar said all out measures will be taken to safeguard the rights of minorities enabling them to perform their rituals and rites according to their faith.
