ISLAMABAD (Dunya News) – Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) leader Maryam Nawaz on Tuesday has submitted a reply in Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) on a plea against her appointment as party’s vice president.

During the hearing, Maryam Nawaz’s lawyer Barrister Zafarullah told that the reply of PML-N will be submitted in coming week. Meanwhile, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) member asked about submission of appointment notification in the commission over which, the lawyer said that the plaintiff has only pasted newspaper cuttings in the petition. The hearing has been adjourned till July 4.

Earlier, defence lawyer had demanded Pakistan Tehrek-e-Insaf (PTI) to provide copies of plea and appointment notification. The PTI lawyer said that PML-N counsel was asking for the hiring letter’s copy from us when his party appointed Maryam as vice president. The one who challenged the appointment should also have its copy, the PML-N lawyer responded. Talking to media after the hearing, Parliamentary Secretary for Law Maleeka Bukhari said defence counsel took a U-Turn before election commission when he said that Maryam Nawaz is not vice president of PML –N. Earlier on June 9, PTI had challenged Maryam Nawaz’s appointment as party vice president in ECP. PTI adopted the stance that Maryam Nawaz was ineligible to hold any political or public office as she was sentenced by the court in corruption reference. Appointment of ex-PM Nawaz Sharif’s daughter Maryam as party vice president was contradictory to the constitution and law, the plea stated.
