Govt plans to save 40 billion through austerity measures

ISLAMABAD (Dunya News) – Prime Minister Imran Khan’s government is ready to save billions through country’s biggest austerity drive in history.
According to Dunya News sources, government has planned to save Rs 40 billion by adopting austerity. Under the austerity drive government is planning to freez salaries of government servants. The government is also considering not to increase salaries of bureaucrats like military officers. Imran Khan led government is also considering not to increase budget for, president house, PM house, governor houses and parliamentarians. Government may increase salaries of employees till grade 16.
The sources said government would cut all unnecessary expenditures, adding that there would be a ban on purchase of new cars and air conditioners in government sector.
Moreover, no funds would be allocated for renovation and entertainment allowance for government servants.
The cabinet on Tuesday would approve government’s austerity measures; however the final decision would be in the hands of parliament during budget session.
