PM gave Eid present to 820 families by ordering release of prisoners: Firdous Ashiq.
ISLAMABAD (Dunya News) – Special Assistant to Prime Minister on Information and Broadcasting Dr Firdous Ashiq Awan has on Tuesday said that PM Imran Khan gave Eid present to 820 families after ordering to release the prisoners by paying their fines.
Firdous Ashiq Awan took to Twitter and wrote that the release of those prisoners who could not pay their fines after completing the sentences is a sign of change in government’s behavior.
The Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) leader maintained that the step taken by the premier is implementation of the Islamic rules.
It is worth mentioning here that 820 detainees were released in Punjab and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) upon Imran Khan’s direction.
In a statement issued by the Prime Minister’s Office on Monday, it was told that these prisoners had completed their sentence in jail but were still detained as they could not afford to pay the fine.
The spokesperson told that Punjab and KP governments paid Rs27 crore on behalf of the captives.
