Speaker NA briefed about post protest development of Farishta murder case

ISLAMABAD (APP) - National Assembly Speaker Asad Qaiser was briefed about the post-protest developments by ICT Administration on kidnap and murder of a girl in Islamabad.

The Chief Commissioner Islamabad apprised that all the administrative actions as agreed between the family of the deceased girl and the Administration have been taken against the delinquent official who failed to amicably handle the issue, said a press release issued here Wednesday.

He further apprised that judicial inquiry had been ordered in order to ascertain the facts and fix responsibility.

He also informed that a summary would be moved to the Prime Minister for grant of compensation to the family of the deceased child. He regretted the irresponsible attitude of the police functionaries.

MNA Ali Nawaz Awan, Mujahaid Ali, Inspector General of Police ICT, Chief Commissioner Islamabad and other senior officers were present.

Later, the Speaker met the family of the decreased girl. The Speaker prayed for the solace of the deceased and fortitude to the family. He said that the perpetrator of the crime would not be spared and would be taken to task.

He assured that justice would be dispensed and all the government functionaries responsible would be taken to task. He directed ICT Administration to apprise him about the progress on the issue.

Earlier, In a tragic turn of events, a 10-year-old girl was killed after being allegedly raped in federal capital.

Farishta, who belonged to Mohmand area of Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa was killed after being allegedly raped and her body was thrown in the forest after the horrific crime.

The girl’s family said they had reported her missing to the police on May 15 after she had left the house to get Iftar. The family claims it took the police till May 19 to register an FIR and even then a proper search was not launched. The body of the minor was discovered by locals in a forest who then informed the police.

To protest against police negligence in the case, the family of the victim protested with her body at Taramari Chowk.

As per initial reports the minor girl was tortured and some parts of her body were eaten by animals. Due to less evidences it is difficult to conduct postmortem report.

Taking notice of the incident, Interior Minister Ijaz Ahmed Shah had ordered the authorities to take strict action against the culprits. He also asked the Islamabad inspector general of police to submit a detailed report regarding the case.

SP rural Khan has been directed to conduct an inquiry in this case. DIG operations said they have identified the killer and he will be apprehended soon.
