Data Darbar blast: CCTV footage reveals face of alleged bomber

As per report, a teenager around 15 to 16 years old came through the adjacent street to the shrine and blew himself up targeting the law enforcement van.

LAHORE (Dunya News) – Lahore police released the initial report of Data Darbar suicide bombing where the suspect has been identified through the CCTV footage. His hand has been sent to National Database and Registration Authority (NADRA) for fingerprint recognition.

As per report, a teenager around 15 to 16 years old came through the adjacent street to the shrine and blew himself up targeting the law enforcement van. The incident took place at 8:54am at the Gate 2 of the shrine.

Police spokesman told that at least 10 people, including four elite force personnel, a security guard and five civilians were martyred and 30 others sustained critical wounds. All the injured were shifted to nearby Mayo hospital for treatment, he added.

According to the reports, Chief Minister Punjab Usman Buzdar was shown the footage of suicide bomber at Punjab Safe Cities Authority (PSCA) headquarters, after which the footage was sent to Counter Terrorism Department (CTD) and other investigation agencies.

Culprit’s hand was obtained from the place of event and his fingerprints were forwarded to NADRA for further investigation.

Earlier today, A suicide attack targeted the vehicles of police elite force near the entrance gate for female visitors to the 11th-century Data Darbar (shrine) in Lahore.

Hundreds of Muslims were at the Data Darbar as the country marks the holy month of Ramazan. The impact of the blast shattered the windows in nearby vehicles and buildings, bystanders told the media.

“Police was the prime target in this attack. We are collecting forensic evidences to ascertain the nature of the blast. This attack has left nine dead and 24 injured,” said Ashfaq Khan, deputy inspector general of police operations in Lahore.
