Former rulers wrong policies ruined national economy: Firdous

ISLAMABAD (APP) – Special Assistant to Prime Minister on Information and Broadcasting Dr Firdous Ashiq Awan Monday said wrong policies of former rulers ruined the national economy and all segments of society including journalists community also faced their negative impacts.
She stated this during a meeting with a delegation of Pakistan Federal Union of Journalists (PFUJ) Workers Group.
Dr Firdous said she was aware of the issues being faced by journalists and would take all possible measures to address them.
She said soon an interim wage board award would be announced, adding, media was a major pillar of the state and an important partner of democratic system.
The advisor said she would work hard for protection and welfare of all the workers related to the media industry.
An independent and responsible media was prerequisite for smooth functioning of democratic system, Firdous said.
PFUJ Workers’ Group President Pervaiz Shaukat gave a detailed briefing to SAPM about the issues related to working journalists.
