KP assembly spends over Rs139mn in 31 meetings.
PESHAWAR (Dunya News) – Despite Prime Minister Imran Khan’s initiative of austerity drive, the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) Assembly spent over Rs139.3 million in six sessions, Dunya News reported on Thursday.
As per details, 31 meetings of the KP Assembly were held in seven months but the members received incentives of 47 days. Furthermore, six sessions were held in those 31 days in which 14 bills were passed.
The cost of one bill according to the expenditures turns out to be over Rs9,951,000. The total 31-day expenses are Rs139,326,000. The opposition members termed the assembly sessions a waste of time and money.
It is worth mentioning here that over Rs133,498,000 were given as salaries, and Rs5,828,000 were awarded as other incentives.
People also criticised KP government for misusing the money from national exchequer. On the other hand, Speaker KP Assembly Mushtaq Ghani affirmed that the performance of the assembly is exemplary. Record legislations were done by the House, he maintained.
