Rate of inflation is lower than previous government: Asad Umar

ISLAMABAD (Dunya News) – Finance Minister Asad Umar on Monday said that while admitting increase in inflation said that the rate of inflation is less than the inflation during Pakistan Peoples’ Party’s (PPP) tenure in 2008 and Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz’s (PML-N) tenure in 20136.
He said that the inflation would increase as the government is trying to improve the country’s economy.
The finance minister said that the prices of petroleum products had been increased less than the proposal of the Oil and Gas Regulatory Authority (OGRA).
Asad Umar went on to say that Financial Action Task Force (FATF) chief has endorsed Pakistan’s stance of appointing an Indian as Asia Pacific Group’s co-chairman.
The federal minister said, “The next budget is proposed to be brought on May 17 or 24, but the final date will be given after consultation with the National Assembly Speaker.”
