PSL-4: Watson, Shahzad lead Gladiators to victory against Zalmi

Last updated on: 04 March,2019 11:01 pm

Gladiators had defeated Zalmi by six wickets in their previous meeting.

ABU DHABI (Dunya News) – Shane Watson s unbeaten 91 moved him to the top of the PSL 2019 run charts and helped Quetta Gladiators become the first team to seal a play-off spot this season.

Watson added 129 for the second wicket with Ahmed Shehzad, to ensure that chasing the target of 166, set by Peshawar Zalmi, turned out to be a cinch.

Zalmi paid for a conservative approach through the early and middle parts of their innings after being sent in to bat. Opening Andre Fletcher and Imam-Ul-Haq took up just over a third of the available deliveries in the innings, scoring at an identical strike-rate of under a-run-a-ball, providing weak support for Kamran Akmal during his 72 off 50 balls.

Peshawar Zalmi set a victory target of 166 runs for Quetta Gladiators in the fourth edition of the Pakistan Super League (PSL-4) at the Sheikh Zayed Cricket Stadium in Abu Dhabi on Monday.

Earlier, Quetta Gladiators had won the toss and elected to bowl first against Peshawar Zalmi as the Abu Dhabi leg of the fourth edition of Pakistan Super League (PSL) kicked off today with top two and bottom two teams lock horns.

Kamran s 72 and another heroic cameo of Pollard help @PeshawarZalmi post a competitive total of 165. Can @TeamQuetta chase this down? LIVE: https://t.co/AvvNVO1kH6#HBLPSL #KhelDeewanoKa #QGvPZ pic.twitter.com/qfqA2VW20U
