2nd Test: Sohail, Azam take Pakistan to 274/4 at Lunch

Pakistan were 207-4 on the opening day of the second Test against New Zealand.

(Web Desk) – Haris Sohail compiled a patient century off 309 balls as Pakistan denied New Zealand a breakthrough before lunch on the second day of the second test on Sunday.

Pakistan advanced to 274-4 with left-handed Sohail unbeaten on 110 with 11 fours and Babar Azam not out on 52 at the interval.

Resuming on 207-4, both overnight batsmen stretched their fifth-wicket stand to 100 runs as New Zealand couldn t break the partnership through either spin or seam.

Sohail, overnight 81, had some nervy moments on 99 when he played 10 dot balls against Ish Sodhi before getting the much deserved 100th run by placing the ball to mid-on against the leg-spinner to complete his century in over 6-1/2 hours.

On the second day of second cricket test against New Zealand at Dubai, Pakistan resumed today at the overnight score of 207 for four.

Haris Sohail and Babar Azam are on the crease.

Earlier, on Saturday, Pakistan won the toss and batted, were 207-4 on the opening day of the second Test against New Zealand in Dubai.
Azhar Ali scored 81 while Haris Sohail was unbeaten on 81 as they added 126 for the third wicket to lift Pakistan from 25-2 at Dubai stadium.

At close Babar Azam was the other unbeaten batsman on 14. Medium pacer Colin de Grandhomme was the pick of New Zealand bowlers with 2-31.

New Zealand lead the three-match series 1-0 after winning the first Test by four runs in Abu Dhabi.
