The officer said that there was an exchange of fire between police and terrorists at the time she reached the spot. When I entered the consulate, a Chinese lady hugged me and I told her that you are in safe hands now, she went on to say.
The ASP said, “We were satisfied that we retaliated the attack and saved the lives of foreigners living in our country.”
Responding to a question, she said that she has got training regarding how to react to such panic situations. Police officers rendered sacrifices and we are proud of it, she said.
Moreover, she further paid tribute to the two martyred officers.
On Friday, four people were killed when gunmen armed with hand grenades and a suicide vest stormed the Chinese consulate in Karachi.
At least three to four suspects arrived at the consulate in a white coloured vehicle and opened fire on the security guard. The unknown assailants tried to enter the building however; the guard retaliated and foiled their attempt.
“There were three attackers and all three were killed,” Shaikh said.
