The minister says government decides to dissolve PEMRA
ISLAMABAD (Dunya News) – Federal Minister for Information and Broadcasting Fawad Chaudhry on Thursday said that the government wants to regulate social media.
Addressing a ceremony in Islamabad on Thursday, he said that the government wants to make Pakistan modern, adding that we have launched a satellite few days ago.
The government is also establishing a media university as this is a game of competition, he added.
He said efforts are afoot to merge the academies of Radio Pakistan and Pakistan Television Corporation as part of proposed Pakistan Media University that will act as a main institution to impart training to students as well as working professionals.
The minister went on to say that the government has decided to dissolve Pakistan Electronic Media Regulatory Authority (PEMRA) and form a new Pakistan Media Regulatory Authority.
