Islamabad: Holland embassy closed due to security concerns

All the interviews of visa seekers have been canceled until the next order.

ISLAMABAD (Dunya News) – The process of issuing visas has been halted temporarily at the Embassy of the Netherlands in Islamabad.

In a clarification post by the embassy, all the interviews of visa seekers have been canceled for two days due to construction work.

It is to be mentioned here that foreign minister Shah Mehmood Qureshi had contacted his Dutch counterpart and raised issue of sacrilegious caricatures. He told Dutch foreign minister that sacrilegious caricatures have hurt the sentiments of Muslims across globe.

Appalling acts will only fuel intolerance and hatred among believers of different faiths, he clarified.

Afterwards, Dutch anti-Islam lawmaker Geert Wilders canceled a planned blasphemous contest following death threats and concerns other people could be put at risk.

Wilders said, “To avoid the risk of victims of violence, I have decided not to let the blasphemous contest go ahead.”
