Pervaiz Khattak elected chairman of committee to probe alleged rigging in polls

ISLAMABAD (Dunya News) – Defence Minister Pervez Khattak was on Wednesday elected as Chairman of the Parliamentary Committee to probe alleged rigging in General Elections 2018.

A meeting of the Parliamentary Committee to probe alleged rigging in General Elections 2018 was held in Islamabad ion which the defence minister was elected chairman.

Pakistan Peoples’ Party (PPP) leader Syed Naveed Qamar proposed Pervez Khattak’s name for the chairmanship, while PPP Senator Rehman Malik also supported Khattak’s name.

On the occasion, the former Khyber Pakhtunkhwa CM thanked the opposition and government for reposing trust in him.

Later, talking to media outside the Parliament House in Islamabad, Federal minister for Information and Broadcasting Chaudhry Fawad Hussain said that the Committee took this decision at its first meeting today and it will decide the Terms of Reference during its next meeting.

He said that the European Union s Election Observation Mission to Pakistan and Free and Fair Election Network have noted in their reports that General Elections 2018 were held in free and fair manner.
