ISLAMABAD (Dunya News) – Supreme Court of Pakistan (SC) on Monday gave Karachi’s trial court deadline of three months for announcing verdict in two cases pertaining to Axact fake degree scam.

As per details garnered, a three-member bench headed by Chief Justice of Pakistan (CJP) Justice Saqib Nisar resumed hearing of the case here in Islamabad today.

As the hearing went underway, Deputy Attorney General (AG) told apex court that hearing of two cases pertaining to fake degree scam is underway in Karachi, hearing of one in Islamabad and the other in Peshawar. He further informed court that Axact had furnished petition seeking dismissal of case in Islamabad.

To this, CJP remarked that the trial court has been hearing fake degree cases since 2015. He inquired reasons behind the delay.

Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) director general Bashir Memon told court that investigation officer has recorded statement in the case. He also informed that a court in Islamabad has suspended jail sentence of Shoaib Sheikh in fake degree case whereas bail has been granted in another case being heard in Karachi.
