Pakistan, Indonesia agree to enhance trade ties

JAKARTA, Indonesia (Dunya News) – Finance Ministe Asad Umar Wednesday met his Indonesian counterpart Sri Mulyani Indrawati on the sidelines of the World Bank/IMF Group annual meetings in Bali.

Both the sides discussed matters pertaining to expansion of bilateral cooperation between the two countries, the Press Information Department (PID) said in a statement.

The finance minister urged the Indonesian side to expedite the process of ratification of the additional tariff lines granted to Pakistan after comprehensive review of the Preferential Trade Agreement (PTA) in 2017.

Congratulating Asad Umar on assuming the office after recent elections in Pakistan, Sri Mulyani Indrawati reaffirmed Indonesia’s desire to expand bilateral relations and assured her support to address the points raised by the Pakistan side.

Finance Minister Asad Umar later had a meeting with World Bank President Dr Jim Yong Kim and reviewed the current level of Pakistan-World Bank cooperation.

Asad shared with the World Bank leader the vision of PTI government and its priorities. The minister also had meetings with senior officials of Multilateral Investment Guarantee Agency (MIGA) and OECD.
