Businessmen suggest listing dam on domestic, world stock markets

President of MCCI said, govt could earn billions as this is most attractive project for investors.

(Web Desk) - The business community of the southern Punjab has proposed the government to list the Diamer-Bhasha dam in domestic and international stock markets to generate funds, Radio Pakistan reported.

In a statement, the President of the Multan Chamber of Commerce and Industry (MCCI) Malik Asrar Ahmed Awan suggested that investors should be made shareholders for construction of the dam and government should provide guarantee to attract investment.

He said that by introducing shares of Diamer-Bhasha dam in the said markets, the government could earn billions of dollars as this is one of the most attractive projects for investors.

He said that so far only 3 billion rupees have been donated for the dam fund and its construction requires around 1,500 billion rupees.
