President Barack Obama is preparing to announce he will deploy about 30,000 more US troops to Afghanistan as part of a new strategy which is likely to be announced today. After three months of deliberations, Mr Obama will outline his plans in an address to war-weary Americans from the US Military Academy at West Point.During a press conference, White House spokesman Robert Gibbs told reporters Obama did not see the U.S. commitment to the Middle East country as open ended. Gibbs told that Obama spent entire day in calling the head of states of UK, France, Russian and other allies and took them into confidence on new Afghan policy. Gibbs had said US would not be in Afghanistan for another eight or nine years, though a specific time table isn't expected. Following the latest addition, the U.S. will have about 100,000 soldiers in Afghanistan. Since 2001, about 928 U.S. soldiers have died in the country, with casualty numbers climbing higher in each year.
