Railways to charge increased fare from today

PR notification regarding hike in fares is being implemented today.

Pakistan Railways is all set to charge fare with 15 to 20 percent increase of all trains from Thursday to cope with rising fuel prices in the international market.A notification has been issued in this regard.However, the passengers have rejected the move, saying it is beyond their reach to pay high fares.According to Divisional Commercial Officer Shoaib Adil the increase in fuel prices in the international market prompted the department to increase the tariff, however, he said, the private trains – Shalimar Express and Business Express - have been exempted from price hike.
