Sania Mirza regrets rushing to announce retirement

NEW DELHI (Web Desk) - The wife of senior all-rounder of the national cricket team Shoaib Malik and Indian tennis star Sania Mirza has said that she has announced her retirement very soon which she is  regretting .

Sania Mirza, 35, has won six Grand Slam titles so far, including three mixed doubles trophies.

Earlier on January 19, Sania Mirza had announced that she would retire at the end of the 2022 season as she did not have much power left. She made the announcement after losing the first round of the women s doubles at the Australian Open.

According to Indian media, the Indian tennis star was asked by a journalist if his attitude towards tennis and tours has changed, as this is his last season.

Answering this question, he said, "I do not think about retirement at every match. I have made this announcement too soon. I regret it because I am being asked questions about it at the moment."

The Hyderabad-based player said that she plays tennis to win matches and as long as I am playing, I will try to win every match, retirement does not always cross my mind.

"I love playing tennis, I ve always loved it, whether it s winning or losing, and I still have that attitude," he said.

I try my best, it never works but I m totally ready for it (the game) for the whole year, I really don t want to think about what will happen at the end of the year.
