ISLAMABAD (Dunya News) - The political leadership of the country has strongly condemned the terrorist attack on a police station in Dera Ismail Khan.

At least 10 policemen embraced martyrdom and nine others suffered injuries when terrorists attacked the police station in the wee hours of Monday.

The armed men attacked the police station by hurling hand grenades and resorting to intense firing.

Caretaker Prime Minister Anwarul Haq Kakar, former president Asif Ali Zardari, former prime minister Shehbaz Sharif and other political leaders condemned the terror incident in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.

“The whole nation is standing firmly with the police and our security forces. We salute our martyrs and pray for those who embraced martyrdom in the terror incident,” Kakar said.

Former President Asif Ali Zardari said that there is a need to implement the National Action Plan (NAP) in its true letter and spirit to defeat the terrorism.

“The peace can be achieved by destroying the sanctuaries and nurseries of terrorists,” Zardari said.

Former Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif said that the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa police have always fought the menace of terrorism with great bravery and courage.

Caretaker Interior Minister Gohar Ijaz also lauded the sacrifices of KP police and security forces in the war against terrorism.

Meanwhile, Chairman PPP Bilawal Bhutto Zardari, Sindh Governor Kamran Tesori and Caretaker Chief Minister Punjab Mohsin Naqvi also condemned the attack on police station in DI Khan.
