Punjab govt distributes 20 mln free flour bags under Ramadan package

31 lakh bags of flour were distributed in the provincial capital Lahore division

LAHORE (Dunya News) - The Prime Minister of Pakistan and the Punjab government launched a historic Ramadan package aimed at helping citizens in need. Under the leadership of caretaker Chief Minister Punjab Mohsin Naqvi, 20 million bags of free flour have been distributed among the people till the 10th day (Thursday) of the commencement of the package.

According to the latest data, 31 lakh bags of flour were distributed in the provincial capital Lahore division, while Bahawalpur division received around 30 lakh bags and Dera Ghazi Khan division received about 26 lakh 30 thousand bags of flour.

Gujranwala division received around 23 lakh bags, while Faisalabad division received 24 lakh 60 thousand bags and Sahiwal division received around 13 lakh 35 thousand bags of flour.

Rawalpindi division received around 11 lakh 10 thousand bags, and Sargodha division received 18 lakh bags of flour.

Punjab Interim Chief Minister Mohsin Naqvi congratulated the officers and staff performing duties at the flour distribution centers and appreciated the efforts of the administration and police in carrying out the distribution in an appreciable manner.

He also commended the staff of Punjab Information Technology Board and other related departments for working day and night to ensure the success of the program.

Despite the rush of people, the arrangements at the centers are better than before, Naqvi said.

He urged everyone to carry forward this good work with the same passion and hard work, and announced that the centers will remain closed on every Friday of Ramadan.

The distribution of free flour is part of the government's efforts to provide relief to people during the month of Ramadan, a time when many families struggle to afford basic necessities.
