Coronavirus positivity rate in Karachi reaches 39.39pc

The nationwide tally of fatalities has jumped to 29,012 on Sunday.

KARACHI (Dunya News) – Coronavirus positivity rate in provincial capital of Sindh has risen to record level of 39.39 percent as country faces fifth wave of the deadly virus fueled by omicron variant.

According to details, 2424 cases of the coronavirus have been reported in the port city in the last 24 hours.

On the other hand, Pakistan has reported 9 deaths in the last 24 hours by novel coronavirus as the number of positive cases has surged to 1,324,147. The nationwide tally of fatalities has jumped to 29,012 on Sunday.

According to the latest figures by the National Command and Operation Center (NCOC) 4,027 persons tested positive for COVID-19 in the past 24 hours.

Punjab remains the worst-hit province in terms of deaths followed by Sindh and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.

Till now 13,088 individuals have lost their lives to the epidemic in Punjab, 7,694 in Sindh 5,958 in KP, 969 in Islamabad, 749 in Azad Kashmir, 367 in Balochistan, and 187 in GB.

Furthermore 499,830 coronavirus cases have been confirmed in Sindh, 452,261 in Punjab 182,199 in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa 110,963 in Islamabad, 34,750 in Azad Kashmir 33,699 in Balochistan and 10,445 in Gilgit-Baltistan.
